Rodger J. Watson, 80, of Lynchburg, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on July 12, 1938 in Bedford. Co. A son of the late Jacob Owen Watson and Margaret Louise Watson. In addition to his parents Rodger was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy Pearl Presley Watson; a infant sister, Eleanor Josephine Watson and a Sister-in-law, Pam Watson.
Rodger served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of Forest United Methodist Church. He retired as a mill operator with Parker Powertrain in Lynchburg, VA.
Rodger is survived by his sister, Doris Watson Witt and her husband, David; two brothers, Elbert Owen Watson and Walter Wayne Watson and his wife, Katie; also, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. The family would like to Thank the Oncology department of the Salem VA for their love, compassion and care for Rodger during this most difficult of times.
A funeral service and celebration of Rodger’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 with Pastor Sue Keen officiating. Burial will follow in Virginia Memorial Park in Forest. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00pm on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford.
