Megan McGuire

Megan Nichole McGuire, 35, of Waynesboro, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at VCU Medical Center in Richmond. She was born at Vandenburg Air Force Base in Lompoc, California on August 8, 1984. The daughter of James Hensel “Jim” McGuire and the late Gail Lynn Shockney. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by her grandparents, James Irwin McGuire, Ruth Ilse McGuire and John A. Shockney. Megan never met a stranger and she loved to make everyone smile. Her love for her family and friends was foremost in her life. She graduated with two bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech. After graduating she pursued another love in her life, Food Services. She worked in the quality assurance department at Shenandoah Growers in Harrisonburg. She considered herself a Foodie and was fearless to try any cuisine. She also loved animals of all types especially horses and cats, and her one-eye cat Blinky was her “baby”. She enjoyed traveling, making crafts, listening to music and going to concerts of all kinds particularly Metal Music. She was widely known among friends as “Metal Meg” She had a huge heart and held a special place in her heart for children. Megan will be immensely missed by all that knew her. Megan is survived by her father, Jim McGuire and his wife, Susie; brother, Brandon McGuire; two step-brothers, Jamie Windle and Jason Windle; half-brother, Shane Kimmerling; grandparents, Peggy Bess, Franziska and Max Raab, Helen Shockney, and; also surviving are a special niece and nephew and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. For those wishing to make memorial contributions in Megan’s memory please consider an organization that helps children or animals such as the Patrick Henry Family Services or Bedford Humane Society. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Newbern Cemetery in Dublin with RuthAnne Henley officiating. Furthermore, a celebration of Megan’s life will be held the following weekend on December 7, 2019 at her father’s home in Bedford starting at 1:00 pm.
