Lois Elizabeth Garlough (Stacy)

Born March 10th, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio. Baptized on Eater Sunday 1938 by her Father, The Rev. C.B.A. Stacy, Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, Dayton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. C.B.A. Stacy and Helen Elizabeth Saur Stacy. She is survived by Richard A. Garlough, husband of Moneta, VA; Miriam Jean Stacy Whetstone, Sister of Boardman, OH; The Rec. John C. Stacy, brother and Hazel Stacy, sister-in-law of Crawfordsville, IN; The Rev. David B. Stacy, brother and Virginia Stacy, sister-in-law of Ft. Myers, FL; Margaret & Jerry Wysong, sister-in-law and brother-in-law of Lancaster, OH; James Edward Garlough, brother-in-law of Lancaster, OH; two sons, James Clifton Garlough and Yolanda Requimin, daughter-in-law of Moneta, VA and Randolph Edward Garlough of Alexandria, OH; and five grandchildren, Alan Requimin, Alelyn Requimin, Nichole Garlough, Kyle Garlough and Samantha Garlough all of Moneta, VA. She was a member of Trinity Ecumenical Parish, Moneta, Virginia where she served as the Team Leader of the Christian Education Ministry for 5 years. She was a Charter Member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a past member of the Parish Council. She was also a Charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Woodbridge, Virginia. Lois attended Springfield Township High School in Petersburg, Ohio, Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio and Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke, Virginia where she earned the Associate in Accounting Degree, Magna Cum Laude. Lois grew up on a farm near Lucas, Ohio and the town of New Springfield, Ohio, where her father served Lutheran churches. She met Richard Garlough at college, married at Presbyterian Church in Sebring, Ohio and moved to Rantoul, Illinois, where Richard was serving in the US Air Force, and they adopted their sons. The family lived in Liverdun, France and Speicher, West Germany while Richard served in U.S. Air Force. Their return to the United States took them to Dale City, Virginia where Richard served the US Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA. They moved to Moneta, Virginia where they have made their home for 30 years. Lois has been the President of the Protestant Women of the Chapel, worked with Navy Relief of Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA, President and Stewardship Chairman of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Stewardship Interpreter for Virginia Synod, ELCA, Chair of the Virginia Missions Committee of the Virginia Synod, ELCA, President of Trinity Lutheran Church, Stewardship Chairman of Trinity Ecumenical Parish, volunteer at Lake Christian Ministries, and Treasurer of SML Good Neighbors, Inc. She was a licensed Life, Heath and Annuities Agent with Lutheran Brotherhood, and licensed Property and Casualty agent with Ed Marshall Aviation Insurance Co. and Nationwide Insurance. More recently she was a Licensed Office Professional for Life, Health and Annuities and a FINRA Registered Representative with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. The family requests that donations to SML Good Neighbors, Inc., Lake Christian Ministries and Trinity Ecumenical Parish be given in lieu of flowers.
