Sylvia Ann Saunders Rolfes, 80, of Bedford, died Sunday, March 13, 2016, with her family by her side. She was the devoted wife, of 56 years, to Bernard “Ben” Joseph Rolfes, Jr., who preceded her in death.
Sylvia was born on October 28, 1935, in North Carolina, where she was raised with her two sisters.
She was a registered nurse for Lynchburg Health & Rehabilitation for many years until her retirement in 2005.
Sylvia is survived by her three sons; Bernard Joseph Rolfes III (Jill) of North Carolina, Mark Edward Rolfes (Sharon) of Campbell County, and Timothy Scott Rolfes (Tammy) of Bedford; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at Ben’s son’s house in Bedford, Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. A private family inurnment will take place at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Lynchburg.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
