Emanuel William Cooper, 68, of Rustburg, died Monday, September 4, 2017.
Emanuel was born February 13, 1949 in Washington County, N. C., a son of the late Bennie Cooper and Corrine Edwards Cooper. Emanuel honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post #16, where he served as a post commander. He was also a past member of the Poplar Chapel in Jamesville, N.C.
He is survived by his life companion, Norma L. Harris of Rustburg; two sons, Chris Cooper of Greenville, N.C. and Benjamin Cooper of Ky.; two grandchildren, Shelby and Tyler Cooper; one brother, Nat Cooper of Greenville, N.C.; one sister, Sarah Berry of Fla.; and a special caregiver, Frances Perry.
At Emanuel’s request, services are to be held privately by the family.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
